The device can switch between an alexandrite laser (755nm), which readily targets melanin, and an Nd:YAG laser (1064nm), which more readily reaches deeper skin layers. The doctor selects the wavelength according to hair type, skin type, and treatment area.
Thermal destruction suited to thick, coarse hair
This thermal destruction method delivers individual high-power laser shots to heat tissue involved in hair growth. It is considered well suited to coarse hair, such as underarm hair, intimate-area hair, and men's facial hair. Results vary from person to person.
DCD™ cryogen cooling helps manage pain and skin stress
The device includes DCD™ (Dynamic Cooling Device), which sprays a cooling gas (cryogen) immediately before each laser pulse to protect the epidermis. It is designed to limit pain during treatment and heat-related skin stress. Numbing cream is also available for those concerned about pain (additional charge).
Fast treatment with a large spot size
The large spot size allows relatively quick treatment even over large areas such as the full body.

Consultation
The doctor will assess your hair type, skin type, and medical history and recommend a plan for wavelength selection and the number of sessions.

Shaving check and preparation
We will check for unshaved hair and protect the treatment area. Numbing cream is available on request at an additional charge.

Energy treatment
We will select 755 nm or 1064 nm according to the area and hair type and treat while protecting the epidermis with DCD™ (15–90 minutes, depending on the area).

Cooling and moisturizing
We will cool the skin after treatment and care for it with moisturizer.

Aftercare guidance
We will explain precautions to follow at home and when to schedule your next treatment.

Many people describe the sensation as being snapped with a rubber band, and it tends to feel stronger on areas with thick hair, such as the beard or VIO area. We use the DCD™ system, which sprays a cooling gas (cryogen) just before each pulse, with pain and the burden on the skin in mind, and numbing cream (additional fee) is available for those who wish. How it feels varies from person to person.
The heat-accumulation method fires low-output laser pulses continuously to build up heat gradually, while the thermal-destruction method fires single high-output pulses to heat the tissue involved in hair growth directly. GentleMax Pro Plus uses the thermal-destruction method and is considered suitable for thick, coarse hair. Please consult us during counseling based on your hair type and skin type.
It depends on hair type, area and hair density, but we generally recommend a 5-session course as a guide. Areas with thick, dense hair such as the beard or VIO area may require more sessions. Results vary from person to person.
We may ask you to postpone treatment right after a strong sunburn or tan. Depending on your skin tone, treatment may be possible with the Nd:YAG laser (1064nm), which is less affected by melanin in the epidermis, so please consult the doctor during counseling.
Please shave the area with an electric shaver or similar by the day before. If there are any unshaved spots, our clinic will shave them for a shaving fee (additional fee). Plucking or waxing makes the laser less effective, so please avoid them for 2 weeks before the treatment.
Yes. The 1064nm wavelength, which reaches deeper more easily, is often used for men's thick beard hair, and the doctor will propose a treatment plan suited to your hair type.
